2011 WPA Convention

The 2011 WPA Convention will be in Los Angeles from April 28 to May 1, 2011 at the Wilshire Grand. The Terman Teaching Conference will be held on April 27, from 9am to 5pm. The hotel is very close to the LA Live Entertainment Complex, Disney Hall, and other downtown attractions. It is next to a metro station to take you to Union Station, Hollywood, and Universal City. Message From Wpa President Jeff Mio
As I take over the presidency of WPA, I am somewhat intimidated. WPA is the largest regional psychological association in the country, both in geographic area and in number of active members. I appreciate your participation, but I am also intimidated by the weight of responsibility of representing such a large contingency. I am also intimidated to be following one of the giants in the field of psychology, Stanley Sue. (more)

WPA 2011 in Los Angeles
The 2011 WPA convention is scheduled for April 28-May 1 with the Terman Teaching Conference planned for Wednesday, April 27. The convention hotel is the Wilshire Grand located downtown next to the 7th Street transportation center and close to LA Live, museums, and theaters. (more)
Delia Saenz Elected as WPA President-Elect
Dr. Delia Saenz from Arizona State University is the President-Elect of WPA this year. She will serve as president during the 2011-2012 academic year. Delia received her Ph.D. in Social Psychology from Princeton University in 1987. (more)
Allen Gottfried Receives 2010 WPA Teaching Award
This year’s selection for the WPA Teaching Award is Allen W. Gottfried. Dr. Gottfried is Professor of Psychology at California State University, Fullerton, where he has been a faculty member for over 30 years. (more)
2010 Early Career Research Award Goes to Daniel Krauss
Dr. Daniel Krauss, Associate Professor of Psychology at Claremont McKenna College, received the 2010 Early Career Research Award. Dr. Krauss received his Ph.D. in 2000 from University of Arizona with a joint major in clinical psychology and psychology, public policy and the law. (more)
Elizabeth Klonoff Receives WPA Social Responsibility Award
The recipient of the Social Responsibility Award is Elizabeth Klonoff. Dr. Klonoff is Professor of Psychology at San Diego State University and Professor of Psychiatry at the University of California at San Diego. (more)
Philip Zimbardo Recognized with WPA Lifetime Achievement Award
Philip Zimbardo is the recipient of the 2010 WPA Lifetime Achievement Award. Dr. Zimbardo is perhaps the most widely recognized psychologist in the world. He is internationally recognized as the 'voice and face of contemporary American psychology (more)
Dale Berger Recognized for Service to WPA
Dr. Dale E. Berger, Professor of Psychology at Claremont Graduate University, received the 2010 WPA Service Award. The award recognizes exceptional service to the Western Psychological Association. (more)
Enrico E. Jones Clinical Psychology Research Award Won By Wei-Chin Hwang
The Enrico E. Jones Early Career Award for Research in Psychotherapy and Clinical Psychology honors Dr. Enrico E. Jones who was on the faculty of the Psychology Department at the University of California, Berkeley. (more)

2011 Multivariate Software Award: Call for Nominations
Peter Bentler and Eric Wu, creators of EQS structural equation modeling software published by Multivariate Software, will award a license for EQS along with a cash prize to a student who presents outstanding research at the WPA convention. (more)
