We are delighted to announce Dr. David Horner as our new Executive Officer of WPA!
Welcome David! Dr. Horner has been an active member of WPA for decades and we
look forward to working with him in his new role. The position of WPA Executive
Officer is complex so through June 30, 2026, Jodie Ullman (outgoing Executive Officer)
and David will form the mighty powerhouse duo and work together for the success of
WPA!

As background, David Horner served for one year as the Interim Dean of the College of
Letters, Arts, and Social Sciences at Cal Poly Pomona, and for four years as the Associate
Dean for Academic Personnel and Resources in the same College. Prior to that, he served
as the chair of the Psychology and Sociology Department, and as the chair of the
Psychology Department after the two disciplines separated into their own departments.
He also served for 12 years as Cal Poly Pomona’s Faculty Athletic Representative. He
arrived at Cal Poly Pomona in the Fall of 2002, and had previously held academic and
administrative appointments at Truman State University and the University of Wisconsin
Oshkosh. Dr. Horner received his doctoral degree from Indiana University and his
bachelor's degree from U.C. Santa Cruz.

As Interim Dean and long-time faculty member David is passionate about sustaining a
collaborative environment that supports faculty in their work, and in their mentoring of
students, and that values and promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion, while fostering
experiential learning, teaching, research, scholarship, and creative activities. We’re
confident that David will bring all of these skills, abilities and enthusiasm to his new
position as Executive Officer of WPA!
